Item Description
This piece is simply labeled only as coming from Colorado, and I honestly can't say specifically where it might have been found, as I have never seen another like it. The piece features botryoidal groups of grey-lavender colored Quartz, but if you look closely, you can see a few incredibly well-preserved pseudomorphs where the Quartz has replaced rhombic Siderite. This is truly one-of-a-kind in my experience, at least for Colorado. A really beautiful and unique specimen that would make a great addition to any collection of Quartz, pseudomorphs or minerals from Colorado. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011. Additionally, the piece comes with a label from the collection of Kay Robertson (#8931).
