Item Description

A rarity from the famous 79 Mine in Arizona featuring translucent colorless Quartz with has formed pseudomorphs after a layer of soft blue-green color Aurichalcite on host rock matrix. The Aurichalcite has formed in "tuft"-like sprays and semi-radial "bursts", but if you look closely under magnification, you can see where the Quartz has started to replace the Aurichalcite, almost forming what looks like a layer of ice over the top, forever preserving the original form. I've seen pseudomorphs of Quartz after Wulfenite and Quartz after Smithsonite from this mine, but I can't remember ever seeing a replacement after Aurichalcite, making this an important and rare pseudomorph for any fan of Arizona minerals, secondary ore minerals or worldwide pseudomorphs. Valued at $750. From the noted pseudomorph collection of Dr. Wouter van Tichelen of Belgium.
