Quartz pseudomorph after Aegirine (ex Dr. Wouter van Tichelen Collection)

Item Description

This piece is reminiscent of Quartz pseudomorphs / "casts" from places like the New Jersey trap rocks or the San Juan Mountains of Colorado, although it's not replacing Anhydrite, but rather Aegirine from the famous Poudrette Quarry at Mont Saint-Hilaire. A trio of elegant, prismatic, diverging crystals of what were originally Aegirine have now been completely replaced by sparkling drusy white Quartz. A few accenting crystals here and there make for an even showier overall specimen. I can't say that the piece is complete "floater", but it's not really contacted per se, just overgrown / recrystallized. I'm just going to say that the piece is complete all around and is fun to view from literally every angle. If you collect MSH material, or pseudomorphs / "casts", don't miss out on this highly aesthetic and fine quality example. Valued at $500-$650.
