Among all the various styles and habits of quartz crystallization, the pseudocubic habit is among the most surprising, and hard to explain. In fact, we are not aware of any good explanation for why this happens, why a prismatic quartz somehow refuses to comply with the laws of crystallography and develops faces that look cubic.
