Item Description
Sometimes minerals travel a fascinating path and end up in equally unusual places. This is certainly one of those times, and thankfully so. Originally an iron-rich clay, this clay material dried out and contracted, forming a fissure pattern similar to what you see in septarian nodules. These cracks (molds, in reality) were filled in by Calcite (now making a cast), which in turn was pseudomorphed by Quartz. Eventually, the remaining clay was washed away, leaving this intriguing lattice for us to marvel at and enjoy.
