VERY RARE and surreal large combination pseudomorph specimen from this extinct California Pb-Cu-Au-Ag-Zn-Mn mine. A dramatic vug hosts amazing quartz pseudomorphs (epimorphs) after botryoidal hemimorphite! The dynamic complete isolated pseudo ball is 1.6 cm across. The large vug and adjacent smaller vug on the upper left host clusters of tiny, glassy, colorless calcite rhombs, a RARE accessory on the sculptural large sooty iron or manganese oxide matrix. Production from the mine was intermittent from 1918 to 1952 (MINDAT). Ex Bob Reynolds Collection and we believe he collected this himself. Bob is a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of the San Bernardino County Museum. He passed away in 2020. A remarkable and very rare pseudomorph from the locale. A must for the locality or species collector.
