Item Description

Oxide-coated drusy quartz has pseudomorphed or coated two forms of fluorite crystals on this fascinating and RARE two-sided plate from this obscure Nevada district. One sides has only octahedrons, while the other has only cubes! The few broken crystals (all on the cube side) reveal that the crystals are partially hollow (epimorphs) or that the drusy quartz coats the fluorite crystals. A rare, perhaps unique fluorite pseudomorph from the Aurora District. Ex Bob Trimingham Collection and from the Charles and Elssi Dunn Collection of Livermore, California. The Dunns collected the piece in the 1956-64 period, according to Bob's label. A must for the locality, species or pseudo collector.
