Item Description

A stunning and aesthetic specimen from the less well-known San Vicente Mine at Guanajuato, Mexico. Striking pseudomorphs of quartz after layered, "sandwich style", poker-chip calcite crystals to 2.1 cm and bundles of calcite needles are richly and aesthetically strewn on the L-shaped crust of lustrous, glassy, light purple amethyst points. All of the pseudos look wheat sheave bundles tied with brown and purple twine. This is an extremely fine and rare combination specimen from this historic locale. It displays superbly from either angle! Ex Robert Lavinsky Collection. purchased fomr a travelling Mexican dealer in 1992 - to date, the only pocket I know of, with this habit! I had only one big plate of this material, found recently after unpacking from our office move. It was long in my own collection as a "calcite"!
