Item Description
The famous OS or "oh, shit" pocket is one of the signature quartz finds of the San Juan Mountains of Colorado. Collected in the early 1990s, this small pocket yielded some of the world's finest quartz casts (epimorphs) after anhydrite. This very sculptural piece features three sharp intergrown tabular anhydrite crystals, that have been replaced by sparkly druzy quartz. These were originally thought to be casts after barite. See: https://www.mindat.org/loc-243199.html. Ex Bob Reynolds Collection, a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of the San Bernardino County Museum. He passed away in 2020. An outstanding San Juan pseudomorph.
