Item Description

An interesting novelty specimen that we picked at the Tucson Show in 2019. We grabbed a handful of these attractive an unusual specimens from this open pit locality in Zwenkau, which is a town in the district of Leipzig in Saxony. The thumbnail features attractive, sharp, lustrous, translucent / gemmy crystals of Quartz which are covering a thin piece of reddish-brown petrified wood matrix. I'm told that the piece was dated to 35 million years ago. A really cool esoteric specimen that would make a cool addition to a thumbnail suite, or a collection or European minerals or even fossil / mineral combinations.
