Item Description
A cool novelty at the Tucson Show this year, we picked up a handful of these attractive an unusual specimens from this open pit locality in Zwenkau, which is a town in the district of Leipzig in Saxony. The piece features attractive, sharp, lustrous, translucent / gemmy crystals of Quartz which are covering a thin piece of reddish-brown petrified wood matrix. I'm told that the piece was dated to 35 million years ago. A really cool esoteric specimen that would make a cool addition to a thumbnail suite, or a collection or European minerals or even fossil / mineral combinations.
