Quartz on Hematite

An impressive and excellent large combination specimen from this deposit on a small hill mined by local farmers for mineral specimens (MINDAT). The striking matrix of sharp lustrous hematite "iron roses" is dramatically accented with glassy quartz points to 4.7 cm. Fairly common, 11-14 years ago, you don't see many of these around today. The bit of noted periphery wear is certainly only a modest detraction to this impactful piece. This is a very fine large example. Comes with a custom-made and engraved lucite base valued at $175, for free. Valued at $1000-1250 for quality and balance, which is way better than the norm.
