Item Description

The famed Rogerley Mine in Northern England has been producing some truly excellent Fluorite specimens for many years as this point, but this piece is notably different from most Rogerley pieces you'll see on the market as it features a coverage of sparkling little pyramidal Quartz crystals which range from white to a very dark brown hue (due to iron content) which are actually coating good sized cubic Fluorite crystals underneath. The largest crystal measures 5.2 cm on edge. When you flip the piece over, you'll see that the Fluorite is still present, so it's not a pseudomorph, just a coating of Quartz. Additionally, the color of the Fluorite is not just the typical green hue, as there are sections on the edges where it's clearly a golden-yellow color, not commonly seen from this mine. If you collect Fluorite, Quartz or minerals from the North England lead mines, this is a really cool example to add to you collection, as it's a completely different style than what we're used to seeing from this locality.
