Quartz on Fluorite

Item Description

Very Large cabinet example from Langeac France showing a combination specimen dominated by a sparkling white Quartz druze on a plate of intergrown cubic crystals of greenish blue colored Fluorite. The translucency when backlit makes the color a little more mint green while the contacted Fluorite showing on the underneath side shows its true color with more of a blue tone. There is an interesting partial fracture feature along the left side showing an in pocket partial separation of the main cube that has happened after the formation of the Quartz druse. There are actually pieces of druse that are trapped in the open fracture. The main Fluorite cube is extremely large for the location measuring 9.7 cm across. While not pristine due to size and a few rough spots here and there in context, it is a fairly uncommon locality with an appealing sugary epimorph of Quartz completely coating the Fluorite. There are also a few unknown black minerals on the Quartz druze. Ex. Paul Zerfass Collection (#94). A rare, large French specimen!
