Quartz on feldspar (unusual for locale)

Very good cluster of large, quite attractive Quartz crystals set in a sugary matrix of very fine white feldspar. The largest of the main Quartz crystals is over 10 cm long, and it is set beautifully against an adjoining 7 cm crystal. Both are gemmy, with silky lusters that still transmit light very well. The largest is pristine, and the smaller has only the most trivial of dings. Surrounding these two crystals are about two dozen smaller Quartz crystals, which add balance and dramatic flair to the piece. Very aesthetic - you would think clear-on-white is not so interesting but in person, the subtle contrasts are REALLY striking and you seldom see colorless quartz from here. We like this, amongst much more pricey amethysts and smokies, BECAUSE it is so unusual and attractive
