Item Description
A rare, very rich and impressive, CABINET combination specimen from the famous La Farola Copper Mine of Chile. Chilean dioptase is of course far different from the dioptase specimens we are all familiar with from Tsumeb, Russia and Zaire. It is a beautiful, velvety druse of sparkly light green microcrystals that covers the surface of the matrix. Adding much color and sparkle to this dramatic piece is: very glassy, blue-green, drusy quartz covering much of the dioptase; powder-blue chrysocolla; and bands and pockets of dark green sprays of gemmy and lustrous, atacamite microblades. Dioptase is rare from this noted copper-rich locality and this excellent combo piece is from Terry Szenics, a very well-known field collector, who has collected extensively in Chile and certainly built the finest collection of Chilean minerals like this in the US. Valued at $900-1200
