Item Description
The Monteriggioni Quarries are well-known for producing attractive specimens of nearly black (Morion) Quartz which get their color from organic material according to one source I found). This piece features pair of sharp, distinct, well-formed, notably bi-pyramidal crystals measuring up to 1.0 cm on sedimentary breccia matrix. Classic material and seldom available for purchase. If you collect Quartz, you need one of these in your collection. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#12578). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
