Item Description
Here we have an exciting Quartz specimen from a very recent discovery in the Erongo Region of Namibia. This is a new style of Quartz, not just from Erongo, but anywhere that I can remember. It's a unique and interesting specimen, and these piece have been given the nickname "Lattice Quartz" for the fact that the crystals have formed in a manner consisting of crossed crystals that are tightly intergrown. Dozens of sharp, well-formed, white prismatic crystals, some of which are notably flattened in one direction, are growing at diverging angles on top of a pair of cream colored prismatic Feldspar crystals to create a showy and eye-catching cabinet sized specimen. The crystals for the most part are in parallel (or semi-parallel) growth, but obviously they are growing in opposite directions. Two sides of the specimen show dark grey-black iron oxide (Goethite, Hematite, Limonite etc.,) for a nice touch. Very little damage and very attractive in person. If you collect Quartz or minerals from Namibia, I'll bet you don't have one of these in your collection so don't miss out.
