Item Description
From a very recent discovery in the Erongo Region of Namibia, here we have a unique and interesting specimen of Quartz, which has been given the nickname "Lattice Quartz" for the fact that the crystals have formed in a manner consisting of crossed crystals that are tightly intergrown. One person in our office said that these specimens remind them of a DNA helix as well. The pieces are unique and different from anything I can remember seeing from Erongo, or virtually anywhere in the world. Dozens of sharp, well-formed, white prismatic crystals, which are notably flattened in one direction, are intergrown at diverging angles to create a showy and eye-catching miniature sized specimen. The crystals for the most part are in parallel (or semi-parallel) growth, but obviously they are growing in opposite directions. Minor iron oxide (Goethite, Hematite, Limonite etc.,) can be seen on the piece as well for a nice touch. Very little damage and very attractive in person.
