Item Description

The Ouray Amphitheater, in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado is well-known for producing superb crystallized Quartz specimens. This piece is an outstanding and impressive large cabinet featuring a group of large, sharp, "dog tooth"-esque, pyramidal crystals of "Milky" Quartz forming a three-dimensional and showy specimen. The front of these large Quartz crystals has a wonderful luster, while the back has a sparkling / drusy coating of a secondary overgrowth of micro Quartz. When you flip the piece over, you will see dozens of smaller, but sharper and more distinct pyramidal terminations with a brighter luster and smoother reflective surface. The piece is crystallized all the way around with only a tiny point of attachment on the back, making it nearly a complete "floater" specimen! Fantastic quality all around and very showy. The piece comes from the collection of Brian Kosnar. Valued at $5,000 retail.
