Item Description

VERY RARE Japan Law twin quartz specimen from the prolific mountainous area in Washington , that has yielded fine crystals of many species. A sharp, well-formed, classic, tabular, 4.3 cm across, Japan Law twin quartz crystal is jauntily set amidst a radiating cluster of smaller quartz points. Both the twin and points are water-clear. The twin is enhanced with nifty included Hematite flakes and with subtle stepped-growth prism faces. The twin is pristine and the few broken quartz points within the frontal spray are barely noticeable and are certainly only a modest detraction. From the Bill Larson Quartz collection case, of approximately 250 specimens, which we bought in 2023. It was a long-term, very diverse mix on display for decades at the Pala International shop as an educational and fun exhibit. It was started back in the late 1970s. Exceptional, Japan Law twin - although not from Washington Pass as he’d thought .  See following note from local collector Glenn Morita:

This Japan Law twin specimen NOT from Washington PAss. The matrix is all wrong and there are little sprays of Luinaite-(OH) in and on the quartz crisyals. The matrix and assiociation with Luinaite-(OH) strongly suggest that this Japan Law twin is from the Bald Hornet claim in eastern King County. I've collected Japan Law twins from Bald Hornet and the one in the auction looks just like them.

The Golden Horn Batholith prduces minerals in miarolitic cavities in a peralkaline granitic pegmatite where areas the localities in eastern King County such as Bald Hornet and Mt. Tennerife are explosive breccias with mineralized vugs.

I have heavily collected both localites over the past 35 years
