Item Description

A little over 20 years ago (1999) this little known locality (at the time) started producing some superb "Japan-Law" twinned Quartz specimens. This mine is near Pampa Blanca which is famous for its attractive Epidote specimens, but good Quartz crystals are typically not very common in the area. This piece is a lovely small cabinet display specimen featuring a predominant, sharp, well-formed, gemmy, colorless "Japan-Law" twin of Quartz with additional single Quartz crystals, free of matrix. The twin on this piece is distinctively different than most I've seen from the locality as it is more "narrow". Good quality all around, with only minor roughness in a few spots. Priced at $1,200 retail. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds (#RR0088). Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
