Item Description
How cool, a Japan Law twinned Quartz from JAPAN! Now this is NOT the type locality for Japan twins, despite the fact that some western dealers are mistakently labelling them as such. The true type locality for these twins is the Otomezaka Deposit (Otome Mine). This particular specimen is not an antique, but was actually collected about 10 years ago. It should be noted that on mindat.org it states: "The Naru village government has now prohibited collecting here because of the bothersome amount of sand being spread around the landscape and onto the road by overzealous collectors". You won't be seeing these on the market anymore, and this is a must have for any Quartz collector, or even a collector of Japanese minerals. This is what is referred to as "closed" twin with a more compressed form like butterfly wings instead of an "open" with longer narrow crystals. Optically, the piece is VERY gemmy (virtually water clear in area), with high luster and colorless crystal purity. The small golden inclusion is a bit of Pyrite and Limonite. Don't miss out on this really attractive showy thumbnail display specimen.
