Item Description
An very unusually-shaped, and aesthetic, translucent, colorless to white group of Quartz crystals from the famous Bor Quarry in Dal'negorsk, Russia. These crystals are unique to the Bor Quarry, and show the most interesting growth. I have seen these specimens labeled as "interference growth", and essentially the Quartz crystals were interrupted by Calcite in the pocket during growth, as evidenced by stacked, poker chip-looking, "striations" seen throughout the crystal. Quartz dissolved and replaced the Calcite and the group continued to grow terminations. The impressive aspect of the piece to me is the fact that not only is it fairly sharp and internally gemmy, but some of the indivdual crystals on the specimen are extremely uncommon for Quartz, including the main crystal at the top of the specimen showing a highly compressed, tabular "blade" flaring out of the piece. This unique specimen is complete all-around, and would make a great addition to any Quartz suite. If you're a Quartz collector, you need one of these in your collection. They are unlike anything I have seen in the mineral world.
