Quartz is the most "inclusion friendly" minerals out there, and the variety of minerals that are included in Quartz make for some interesting and unique gems. This stone is from the famous Novo Horizonte in Brazil. It's a polished flattened orb of gem quality colorless Quartz which plays host to superb, brilliant, lustrous, thin, acicular crystals of reddish-golden-brown Rutile with metallic silvery-grey Hematite in the center. The positioning of the Rutile and Hematite crystals inside the Quartz makes for a perfect orientation in the center of the gem, creating a unique effect, and a totally one-of-a-kind stone. As mentioned, this is not a cabochon - which traditionally will have a flat bottom - this piece is rounded and polished on all sides. It's not a sphere because it's compressed along one axis, which honestly improves the viewing of the Rutile needles. A really special and eye-catching gem of this famous material.
