Quartz included with Hematite "phantoms" with Epidote

Back in the early 2000s there were a fair number of these specimens on the market, but they are incredibly hard to find these days. The combination of the Quartz with the contrasting Epidote crystals is certainly eye-catching and not often seen in the mineral world. This specimen features beautiful, very lustrous, dark forest green color radial "sprays" of Epidote sitting atop well-formed, sharp, well-formed, lustrous, silvery colored Quartz crystals with notably red specular Hematite inclusions - some of which have created attractive internal "phantoms" - free of matrix. Most of the Quartz crystals are in excellent shape and look really good up close. It is not terribly common to find Epidote on Quartz like this, and this is a showy piece to boot. The piece comes from a prominent Midwest mineral collection which we acquire a few months ago.
