Quartz included with Hedenbergite with Calcite

Item Description

This remote Chinese locality is one of the great mineral specimen producers in the modern era of mineral collecting. It has become a prolific based upon the large number of fine quality crystallized specimens it has yielded over the years. This piece is a highly aesthetic display specimen featuring a few sharp, lustrous, prismatic, tapered, semi-scepter habit groups of Quartz crystals (some of which are doubly-terminated) measuring up to 6.1 cm, which have soft mossy-green hue due to minor Hedenbergite inclusions. The final touch to this specimen is that the Quartz crystals play host to several soft pink colored stacked groups of highly compressed Calcite crystals, which measure up to about 6 mm in diameter. Overall, the piece is in superb condition, as I cannot find any major damage, the only imperfection is on the base where it was removed from the pocket wall. I don't think we've had a piece quite like this in the auctions before. A wonderful, fine quality, showy example of this gorgeous material. Priced at $1,500 in the inventory.
