A classic of San Diego pegmatites, these odd pink-colored quartzes are colored by inclusions of the pinkish clay montmorillonite. Most of these came out in the 1970s and historically were often sliced and polished for sale in pieces to the locals, such as this large crystal. The bladed montmorillonite is really evident in the interior. Seldom on the market today and highly desirable to the locality collector in this excellent quality. The crystal looks like it was a doubly terminated floater. Ex Al Ordway Collection.
