Quartz (highly unusual and sculptural ''cast'')

This is certainly one for the "mineral oddities" category. Quartz is obviously found all over Brazil, and Quartz can be found forming "casts" after other minerals from a large number of worldwide localities, but I've never seen a piece quite like this. In terms of the shape, the piece almost reminds me of the Polyhedroid Agate specimens from Paraiba, Brazil, but this piece has as distinctly different color. The stark geometrical faces along with the unusual overall shape makes this a unique and bizarre specimen. We have no idea what preexisting mineral was dissolved away, leaving only the Quartz behind, as the shape and style is certainly unlike any other ''cast'' we've seen from anywhere. Additionally, there is a small "druse" of actual Quartz CRYSTALS on the end of the specimen, so it's a crystallized piece on top of being a unique "cast". If you're a Quartz fan, or a collector of unusual specimens, be sure to pick up this attractive and just plain different piece for your collection. It's difficult to put a fair market value on this piece, but I would put it in the $1,200-$1,500 range.
