Classic and sculptural large intergrown cluster of five Herkimer quartz "diamonds" from the famous Ace of Diamonds Mine in Herkimer, New York. The impressive, variably-sized prisms look like cut gem "diamonds" with exotic forms. The highly glassy and lustrous crystals are mostly water-clear. Interior veils, yellow clay inclusions and scattered included bitumen or shale flecks add much character and color. The front is pristine and the contacts on the back are out-of-sight. A choice and very showy cluster of large "diamonds" from the well-known locale. Herkimer Quartz "diamonds" are one of those USA classics that also are pretty much unique from anywhere. Superb specimen recently mined, and we are told without repair (although it may have been stabilized). It is a very large cluster for what will likely be a very fair price at auction, here.
