Item Description
Herkimer Quartz "diamonds" are one of those USA classics that also are pretty much unique from anywhere, so they are more than just "locality quartz speicmens" to colelctors. We have seen many, as have you, but this is a particulary balanced and nice A wondrful cluster of 'herkimer-style' quartz in the typical shape of doubly-terminated gem crystals. This material is world famous for it's superior form, gemminess, and quality. This floater (complete all around!) specimen consists of sharp, lustrous, colorless, doubly-terminated crystals up to 4.0cm. It is important to note that many of these clusters are typically repaired. While not certain about this specific piece, it would be safe to assume it is lock-fit repaired as well. Valued $1000-ish and MUCH better i nperson as these are nearly impossible to photograph (see the video link!). This piece came from noted Ohio collector John Medici, to me, in the early 1990s (it still retains my specimen label from a 1995 address on University campus in San Diego, so I am sure of that). It is a full miniature, just at the limit of a full miniature size as I'd display it.
