Item Description
Wonderful razor sharp, transparent, water-clear and glassy Quartz crystal commonly known as a Herkimer diamond. The double terminated Quartz crystal shows a dauphine habit with the enlarged rhombohedral faces (3.5 cm and 3.1 cm long) being rotated on each end. There are a few areas of possible contacting or dissolution on some of the faces. Given the transparency of the specimen, several grey to black inclusions, possibly Hematite, can be seen on one end. There were also a number of small fluid inclusions to be discovered, however, no moveable bubbles were found. A very pleasing single Quartz crystal miniature with sharp crystallography and excellent clarity. Donated by SAGA Minerals, Jared Freiburg, to the MINDAT auction.
