Item Description

A classic old time geode from the State Route 37 roadcut in Harrodsburg, Indiana. The piece is distinctive for the fact that when you open it up, one half of the Quartz-lined interior features a beautiful, sharp, lustrous, gemmy, light golden colored Baryte crystal measuring 1.8 cm (with a few smaller Barytes at the base), and the other half hosts a white, translucent trigonal Calcite measuring 1.2 cm. While I'm sure others like this must exist, I can't remember seeing one with a Baryte on one side, and a Calcite on the other. It's actually quite lucky that the geode was split in this manner, because if were split 90 degree the other way, both the Baryte and Calcite would have been destroyed. A cool specimen that is accompanied by a label stating it was collected by Dave Rush.
