Item Description

Arkansas Quartz specimens don't often get the credit they deserve in the marketplace. Because Quartz is a common mineral species, and most of the crystals from Arkansas are colorless, the specimens aren't regarded as highly as they should be by collectors. I will say without reservation that the best of what Arkansas has to offer holds up against the finest Quartz crystals from any world locality. With that said, this piece is a fine quality example of this classic material featuring a pair of notably sharp, lustrous, GEM quality, colorless hexagonal prisms, with no matrix. The crystals are both undamaged on the front/display side, but there is some peripheral roughness where the piece was separated from the pocket wall. A very good representation of these well-known Quartz specimens. From the collection of Colorado mining legend, Dave Bergman. Dave is now retired, but among other things, he was the foreman and primary person in charge of recovering specimens at the famous Sweet Home Mine near Alma, Colorado during the late 1970s. He is also the maternal grandfather of Brian Kosnar. See Dave's photo mining at the Sweet Home on page 58 of Peter Bancroft's book "Gem and Crystal Treasures".
