Item Description

A fascinating large Faden Quartz tower with multiple axis or planes of flattened parallel growth with both tabular and prismatic Quartz crystals. This piece comes from the Dera Ismail Khan District, a well known Faden Quartz location in Pakistan. Many of the tabular crystals exhibit curved growth however not always in the same direction. The main large slightly curved tabular crystal is 7.3 cm long. There are a couple of naturally occurring growth inhibition areas that interfered with complete crystal growth as seen on the main tabular crystal termination. There is contacting on the top and bottom of the tower where it was attached, as well as a couple of broken Quartz crystals on the specimen, but that doesn't detract from the display of this cool Quartz tower. The aesthetic 360 degree piece is of significant interest for its unusual growth history and varying termination habits of Quartz all in one specimen. The multiple planes of slightly curved tabular crystals makes for a very distinctive Quartz specimen. Ex. Kurt Hefendehl. Google "Faden quartz" for more information on this fascinating formation!
