Item Description
A RARE, deceptive and aesthetic 360-degree lightweight specimen of thin-walled, sparkly, sugary quartz casts after intergrown, blocky calcite rhombs from this famous Dal'negorsk locale. The striking doubly terminated pseudo at the top is 4.2 cm. These crystals are epimorphs, i.e. casts after calcite crystals, which have been dissolved away. A striking form. The sculptural front looks like quartz pseudos. The back is decidedly different, with the broken crystals revealing the hollow interiors and having a preferential secondary gray oxide overgrowth. A rare and excellent pseudomorph from the Bor Pit. Ex Ken Roberts Collection, a well-known dealer and collector. Mass is only 85 grams. Light for the size. His value on this was $950
