Item Description

A highly unusual piece that shows something bizarre happened in this pegmatite pocket! The crystal of schorl is dissolved inwards from the top, with the clear remnants of what was once a sharp termination and is now like a volcano's caldera, with a sunken pit inside. Shooting up from the middle of that pit is, sticking out like a rocket, a quartz crystal. At first glance the piece does not look like a fancy rock, but when you start thinking about how it came to be, it gets more interesting we thought.
