Item Description

When it comes to Colorado Mines, the Idarado stands as one of the greats. Most people are familiar with the beautiful pink (Mn-bearing) scalenohedral Calcite crystals from this mine, but the Idarado arguably produced the best and biggest Quartz specimen of any mine in Colorado. This piece does not disappoint featuring many sharp, well-formed, gemmy/translucent, colorless, thin prismatic crystals measuring up to 6.1 cm associated with black Sphalerite and minor moss-green colored "Chlorite". The largest Quartz crystal is actually doubly-terminated, which is a big deal for this mine, because you don't see a lot of doubly-terminated crystals like this. Most of the crystals are damage free, save a few near the periphery. A good overall display piece. If you collect Colorado minerals, or Quartz from Colorado (or the United States), don't miss out on this attractive specimen.
