Item Description

While Panasqueira is best known for its wonderful Fluorapatites and Ferberites, there are plenty of associated minerals that make for excellent display pieces, like this one. This full-sized miniature hosts a sharp, lustrous, gemmy, colorless, doubly-terminated Quartz crystal measuring 4.0 cm, along with another Quartz crystal on the back (which appears to also be doubly-terminated), sitting atop a predominant, compressed, thick tabular, golden-brown crystal of Siderite plus additional smaller "rosette"-esque groups of Siderite. A bit of Muscovite can be seen as well on the back for an additional touch. The piece remarkably aesthetic, with no major damage on the top/display side, though I can see a TINY bit of chipping on the termination of the main Quartz crystal. You don't see a lot of Quartz/Siderite standalone combo specimens like this from Panasqueira, especially such eye-catching and three-dimensional display pieces. From the collection of Vasco Trancoso, a medical doctor and prominent mineral collector from near Lisbon, Portugal (https://www.mindat.org/user-11954.html). He assembled his mineral collection over the course of 60 years, and built a fine worldwide display collection that we recently purchased. This piece is pictured on mindat.org at https://www.mindat.org/photo-189596.html
