Quartz coating Chrysocolla on Malachite (classic material)

A beautiful and classic example of the famous Quartz / Chrysocolla specimens from the Bagdad Mine. This material is rarely seen on the market today, as it was mined out years ago. This near cabinet sized display specimen featuring a central vug of glowing blue colored botryoidal aggregates of Chrysocolla which are coated by sugary / drusy Quartz sitting atop a thin layer of dark green Malachite on host rock matrix. The underside of the specimen features an almost "waxy" coating of additional Chrysocolla, so there is color on both sides of the piece. The intense color of the Chrysocolla is about as strong as it gets for the locality, and the piece is in great condition, with no major damage, only edge-wear where it was removed from the pocket wall.
