Quartz coating Chrysocolla on Malachite (classic material)

Here we have an eye-catching and classic example of the famous Quartz / Chrysocolla specimens from the Bagdad Mine. These attractive specimens are rarely seen on the market today, as they were mined out years ago. This small cabinet sized display specimen features a central area of glowing blue colored botryoidal aggregates of Chrysocolla which are coated by sugary / drusy Quartz sitting atop a thin layer of dark green Malachite on host rock matrix. There are also some hollow "casts" of sugary Quartz which has replaced Calcite. The underside of the specimen has been sawn, but shows the beautiful banded formations of the Malachite. The color of the Chrysocolla is quite alluring. The piece is in great condition, with only minor roughness, and the only damage is edge-wear where it was removed from the pocket wall.
