Item Description
A classic example from Bisbee of the well-known and hard to find specimens of Quartz coating Chrysocolla. Now it should be noted that the piece is labeled as coming from the Copper Queen Mine, though I'm a bit skeptical, so we've left it simply as "Bisbee". With that said, this small cabinet features a brilliantly lustrous / sparkling coverage of little gemmy, colorless Quartz crystals which are overlaying a glowing greenish-blue layer of Chrysocolla on contrasting brownish host rock matrix. There are some thin veinlets of additional Chrysocolla running through the host rock as well. A really showy and colorful example of this historic material from Bisbee. From the worldwide collection of David Burgess (1951-2016). David was a prolific species collector from Newington, Connecticut, and the namesake for the extremely rare cobalt arsenate species Burgessite, which he discovered.
