Quartz coated with Siderite on Sphalerite (Belsky Coll.)

Two, stellate, sprays of intergrown quartz crystals are very aesthetically set on lustrous sphalerite matrix. The quartz crystals are strikingly accented with a rich peppering on honey-brown, siderite rhombs, which really adds lots of character to this outstanding and uncommon for the species varietal from the well-known Turt Mine of Romania. A few broken quartz crystals are noted, but are certainly a modest detraction to such a densely covered piece. The upper quartz starburst is, indeed, dramatic. Ex Howard Belsky Collection. Howard started as a mineral dealer at age 13 in 1972, became a sophisticated dealer and died tragically at age 28 in 1987. His collection recently became available to us through his family.
