Item Description
The Diamond Hill Mine in northwestern South Carolina is best known for its beautiful Amethyst crystals, but there are several different kinds of Quartz found at this locality. This piece is a beautiful classic plate of what would ordinarily be white Quartz, but it has a coating of manganese oxides (and possibly iron oxides) creating a beautiful two-tone black and white appearance. The Quartz crystals measure up to about 6 mm, and are predominantly pyramidal in habit, with virtually no prism faces to be seen. Very good condition all around, and the piece displays nicely as you can see. If you collect worldwide Quartz, minerals of the southern U.S. or classic localities, don't miss out on this attractive full cabinet sized display piece.
