Quartz coated by Hematite

Item Description

A three-dimensional and showy piece of these lovely Quartz specimens featuring several sharp, well-formed hexagonal prisms, with individual crystals measuring up to 5.0 cm long which have a coating of stark red Hematite on the surface, aesthetically sitting on matrix. You can see on selected edges of the crystals that the underlain Quartz is a light smoky hue, which is nearly colorless in some crystals, so this shows that this piece has a coating of Hematite, not inclusions, but the effect is still just as impactful. Overall the piece is in good condition, but there are a few rough spots, so it's not completely pristine. That stark red color is incredibly eye-catching, and a hallmark of these famous Quartz specimens from the Orange River (along the border between Namibia and South Africa).
