Item Description

East of Silverton, Colorado lies Cunningham Gulch, where the ghost town of Howardsville can be found. There are some famous mines in this gulch such as the Old Hundred, the Highland Mary and the Keystone. This piece is a beautiful display specimen featuring "sugary" milky-white minute crystals of Quartz which have formed "casts" (epimorphs/perimorphs) after preexisting tabular crystals of Anhydrite. The largest crystal measures 2.7 cm. The piece is largely crystallized all over, with only a few small points of attachment on the back. No major damage and very eye-catching. Please note, these specimens used to be labeled as pseudomorphs after Baryte, but it has been proven that the Quartz replaced Anhydrite. Ex Brian Kosnar specimen.
