Item Description
A lovely small cabinet sized specimen of sparkling white Quartz after Calcite from the Ohio Mine in the well-known amphitheater just east of the town of Ouray in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado. The secondary "sugary" Quartz crystals are replacing preexisting Calcite scalenohedra (called "casts" or sometimes epimorphs or perimorphs). The largest "cast" measures 4.3 cm long. Specimens from this area are not common on the market. From the collection of Gary Weaver of Prescott, Arizona (1944-2019).
