Quartz cast after Anhydrite (ex Rich Kosnar Collection)

Item Description

Prospect Park is one of the most classic U.S. localities, and many east coast collectors recognize the specimens from the quarry as being some of the most recognizable and unique pieces from the New Jersey Trap Rocks. This piece is classic "cast" of Quartz / Amethyst which formed after after Anhydrite showing excellent blocky form with smooth faces. The Anhydrite was coated by Quartz, and then eventually dissolved away in the pocket solution. This piece was from the collection of Richard A. Kosnar. A cool specimen from this amazing and historic New Jersey locality showing this classic crystallization.
