Quartz Carving, Rhinoceros (ex Bill Larson Collection)

Here we have a beautiful carving of optic grade, colorless Swiss Quartz which has been skillfully carved into a very realistic looking rhinoceros. Alpine Quartz is some of the finest quality carving material in the world in terms of clarity and purity, and pieces like this are a great example of what a skilled artisan can do with the material. The piece weighs 153 grams. Please note: Although the detail is excellent on this piece, we are sad to say that the rhino's horn was unfortunately damaged many years ago, so the piece is slightly imperfect. It's still a very eye-catching and high quality carving and it displays beautifully due to the nature in which the base was carved by following the shape of the original Quartz crystal. This carving comes to us from the collection of Bill Larson.
