Item Description
The Little Giant Basin area in San Juan County, Colorado has been the source of some very attractive and unique Quartz specimens over the years. They truly don't resemble any Quartz crystals from anywhere else in the state. They are often found as loose singles, and groups or matrix pieces are scarce. They are especially desirable for collectors due to the fact that they form in interesting habits, not just your typical hexagonal prisms. This piece is an eye-catching crystal featuring a sharp, lustrous, gemmy, prism with slight skeletal "Fenster" habit faces. You can see that near the termination, the crystal is quite gemmy with a gentle smoky color, while the base of the crystal has a very soft Amethystine hue. The piece is in good shape, but not completely unblemished. A nice overall example of the type of specimens that can be found in the Little Giant Basin.
